Until consumers start doing this, car-makers won’t be motivated to crash test vehicles, putting you at risk

A car can look incredibly safe on paper, with a long list of protective features, but the only way to know  for sure how its passengers will fare in an impact is to crash test it.

Motorists in developed countries know this and, when comparison shopping, the respective cars’ NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) safety rating is a huge factor.

Five stars is best and a one-star car shouldn’t be on the market, according to the London-based Global NCAP organisation...
