Dictionary.com is set to start its biggest revision ever. From 2020 alone, SA could add hundreds to the edition
The Dictionary.com (https://www.dictionary.com/) website, with about 70 million monthly users, has announced it will embark on its biggest-ever revision.
Its CEO, Jennifer Steeves-Kiss, told the UK’s The Guardian (https://www.theguardian.com/books/2020/sep/01/dictionarycom-revises-definitions-eliminate-prejudiced-language): “2020 has been a year of change like never before, affecting how we live, work, interact — and how we use language. Our biggest release yet represents a tireless commitment from our entire team, not only to documenting how language evolves, but to ensuring our users always find the meaning they need.”
The revision includes more than 15,000 words being updated and a raft of new ones, including “asymptomatic” and “social distance”...
