EDITORIAL | Justice must prevail for Collins Khosa, or else
If SA doesn’t want to end up like the US, the inquiry by the military ombud must be credible, unlike that of the SANDF
The report released on Wednesday by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) into the death of Collins Khosa adds credence to claims that the SANDF inquiry into his demise was a whitewash.
The police watchdog found that several neighbours reported having witnessed soldiers assaulting Khosa and his brother-in-law, shortly before he died from what his post mortem described as blunt-force trauma.
The altercation took place in Alexandra, Johannesburg, on April 10 after the soldiers accused Khosa of drinking outside his house in contravention of lockdown regulations...
