President Cyril Ramaphosa has bowed to pressure from religious leaders by acceding to calls to open places of worship – a move that could expose our most vulnerable citizens to Covid-19.

Our limited experience with this disease has shown that church gatherings have contributed to the spread of the virus since its outbreak in December 2019.
