EDITORIAL | SA must fight the virus, not the law

Given that we know so little about its spread, we need to revolt against Covid-19, not lockdown regulations

Images of a group of US healthcare workers standing their ground on a street, in scrubs and masks, in the face of hundreds of cars bearing flag-waving protesters – and even a cowboy on his brown horse – have dominated screens and social media in the past few days.

The protesters, part of a growing US populace across several states, who are fed up with unemployment and little freedom of movement, are campaigning for an end to stay-at-home orders and social distancing implemented to curb astronomical deaths and Covid-19 infections.

The country has grimly claimed top spot in the world for pandemic deaths – more than 41,000 as of Monday.. ..
