Corporate SA has long liberated itself from the legacy of restrictive everyday neckties and power suits, but continues to communicate with its customers and the media in the most stuffy, pompous way.

It seems that letting go of those safe stock phrases and replacing them with more authentic ways of exchanging information – and saying sorry – is too terrifying, or maybe just too much work.

And so the kindly-note-thats, we-assure-you-of-our-best-attention-at-all-times and the we-apologise-for-the-inconveniences continue to be trotted out in the name of professionalism...
