Hurry up and fix SAA because Prasa could do with some TLC
Business rescue will involve tough decisions about job losses, but it might be the only remedy for some SOEs
If the government wants the business rescue of SAA to be successful a lot of difficult decisions will have to be made, including ones about job losses and permanent route closures.
The government doesn’t want to look like the bad guy when it comes to making the call to cut jobs, but experienced business rescue practitioners tasked with turning around the embattled airline have made it clear that there is no other choice.
If the process is successful, the strategy could be applied to other crippled state-owned enterprises such as the Passenger Rail Agency of SA (Prasa). ..
