Two large JSE-listed gold miners – Gold Fields (https://www.sharenet.co.za/v3/quickshare.php?scode=GFI) and Harmony (https://www.sharenet.co.za/v3/quickshare.php?scode=HAR) – have advised shareholders to expect strong earnings growth because of a higher gold price.

The dollar price of gold increased by 10% during 2019, the biggest rise since 2011. It translated into record high prices in rand terms.
