AngloGold Ashanti ( is not only going to use cash from its business to repay debt and bring its $545m Obuasi mine in Ghana back into production, but firm up its resources and reserves.

For a non-miner the concept of resources and reserves could easily be confused and interchangeable, but these are at the very heart of a mining company.

A resource is knowing there is mineralisation in the ground, with various degrees of certainty arising from drilling campaigns...
