Retailers queue up to seduce thrifty online shoppers

If any more evidence is needed that the future of food and retail is digital, and that SA consumers are under pressure, Famous Brands (https://www.sharenet.co.za/v3/quickshare.php?scode=FBR) is scrambling to get its Wimpy app up and running before the peak holiday season.

SA’s weak economy is helping to accelerate a global trend towards online ordering, says the company. Consumers are shifting to deliveries, and away from dine-in experiences, as they seek better value propositions. The Wimpy app is designed to fill that gap.

With the upcoming December holidays and Black Friday (November 29) in particular, SA’s consumers with access to the internet are expected to use technology for bargain hunting...
