Marc Wainer leaves Redefine ‘still hungry’ for deals

Marc Wainer has retired from Redefine Properties (https://www.sharenet.co.za/v3/quickshare.php?scode=RDF), which he founded and helped grow consistently for more than 15 years before it ran into challenges including a low growth economy and struggling office and retail tenants. He has been CEO, executive chairperson, director and consultant, but is  now ready to leave the listed property sector.

Why does it feel right to step away now?

I have done a lot in a long career in listed property. After my wife passed I felt I needed to move away from a very regimented listed sector and allow myself to travel more and to see my children more. Family is very important and I want as many opportunities to spend time with my family as I can get. I will still consult to Redefine for a period of 18 months...
