Departure of Omnia boss raises a few eyebrows

You have to be sceptical when the board chairperson leaves in the middle of talks about the firm's survival

Under normal circumstances the retirement of an industry veteran as chairperson after 20 years of service wouldn’t attract that much attention.  

But when the company in question has been accused of breaking the trust of shareholders and investors by allegedly misleading them about something as significant as a R2bn rights offer, the picture changes completely.

So, when Omnia announced on Thursday that chairperson and former MD Rod Humphris would be stepping down immediately it did raise a few eyebrows.  ..
